Markham spans a wider range of building eras than most GTA municipalities. Unionville’s Main Street carries genuinely old frame houses with heritage considerations; Cornell is new urbanist with narrow lots, rear laneway garages and three-storey elevations; and between them sit large 1990s and 2000s executive subdivisions in Angus Glen and Berczy.

What shapes a Markham quote
- 01
Narrow-lot access in Cornell and Wismer
Three-storey elevations on lots with minimal side setback leave nowhere to safely stand a ladder. These exteriors often need scaffold or staged access, which we cost at the walkthrough rather than discovering on site.
- 02
Heritage frame housing in Unionville
Older Main Street stock carries multiple layers of historic paint, including likely lead in the lower layers. Prep is careful and hand-scraped, and anything requiring aggressive stripping goes to a certified abatement contractor.
- 03
Fibre-cement and engineered siding
Newer Markham builds commonly use fibre-cement board, which is an excellent repaint substrate but needs the joints and end-cuts resealed as part of the job.

Painting in Markham, answered
Can you paint a three-storey Cornell townhome exterior?
Yes, but the access has to be planned. Cornell lots have minimal side setback, which often means there is physically nowhere to foot a ladder safely against a three-storey elevation. Those jobs need scaffold or staged access from the front, and occasionally coordination with a neighbour for a few hours. We work that out at the walkthrough and price it in, rather than turning up with an extension ladder and improvising.
Do you work on heritage homes in Unionville?
Yes, with the caveats that heritage stock requires. Older frame housing on and around Main Street carries many layers of historic paint, and the lower layers on pre-1980 work are likely to contain lead. Our approach is careful hand preparation to a sound, stable edge, not aggressive power sanding. Where a job genuinely needs stripping back to bare wood, that becomes abatement work and belongs to a certified contractor.
How much does painting cost in the GTA?
We do not publish prices, because a number quoted without seeing your walls is a guess. What decides the cost is ceiling height, how much trim you have, and the condition of the substrate, none of which can be judged from square footage. The walkthrough is free, takes about 45 minutes, and ends with a fixed written quote.
Do you provide free estimates?
Yes. The walkthrough takes 45 to 60 minutes, costs nothing, and carries no obligation. You receive a written finish specification within 48 hours that names every surface, its coat count, its primer decision and its sheen. We would rather you compared that document against other quotes than compared bottom-line numbers, because three painting quotes are usually three different scopes.
What areas do you serve?
The Greater Toronto Area, the City of Toronto including Etobicoke, North York and Scarborough, plus Peel, York, Durham and Halton regions. That covers Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, Oshawa, Newmarket and Aurora. If you are inside the GTA, we quote it.
