Amana Finishes
1,000+ homes painted · Greater Toronto Area

We sell a specification, not a coat of paint.

Anyone can put paint on a wall. What separates a job that still looks right in five years from one that fails by spring happens before the first tin is opened, and it is almost never visible on the day you write the cheque.

Why we work this way

Amana Finishes has painted more than 1,000 homes across the Greater Toronto Area, from century homes in the old city and subdivision stock through Peel and Durham to condo towers downtown.

In that time the pattern behind almost every complaint we have been called in to fix has been the same. Not bad colour choices. Not cheap paint. Waterborne finish rolled straight over cured oil-based trim because nobody spent ten seconds with an alcohol swab. Wallpaper adhesive never washed off, so the new coat bubbled a fortnight later. A movement crack filled instead of taped, reopening every February. New drywall never primed, so every joint reads as a dull band through the finish.

Every one of those failures was invisible on handover day. Every one of them was decided hours before any finish coat went on. And every one of them was cheaper to do correctly the first time than to fix afterwards.

So we changed what we sell. An Amana quote is a document rather than a number: which surfaces get filled and sanded, which get primed and why, how many coats each substrate carries, what sheen lands where, and what is explicitly excluded. You approve it before we start. You inspect against it when we finish. Scope stops being something to argue about afterwards, because it was written down beforehand.

It also means we occasionally lose work by being straight with people, telling someone their thermofoil cabinets will not hold a coating, or that a kitchen with a broken layout does not need paint, or that their slab fails moisture testing and cannot take an epoxy floor. That is a reasonable trade. We would rather lose a job than take money for something that will fail.

Commitments

Verifiable, not adjectives.

“Quality workmanship” is not a differentiator, everybody claims it and nobody can be held to it. These are things you can check.
